The Stanley M. Herzog Foundation’s mission is to support religious-based K-12 education across the United States. As one of the initial goals for the new Foundation, a Headquarters building was needed to house staff, host national training events for educators and school administrations and be a hub of activity for the local community. The site itself is situated in a rural landscape, surrounded by crop fields, prairies and farm buildings indicative of the region.
The headquarters building is thoughtfully organized into three wings, each supporting a core component of the Foundation’s mission: Support, Congregate, and Educate. The 'Support' wing houses offices and intimate meeting spaces for Foundation staff. The 'Congregate' wing features a spacious, vaulted conference hall for large gatherings, while the 'Educate' wing provides a versatile, multi-functional space for trainings, exhibitions, and events.
Nestled into the wooded eastern portion of the site are four cabin buildings, each containing two guest suites. These cabins draw inspiration from the region's traditional farmhouses, with a simple yet purposeful design. Interiors feature a warm material palette, highlighted by exposed Douglas fir beams and decking. Screened porches extend gracefully from the back of each cabin, creating floating views that draw the eye to the surrounding woodlands and nearby stream.
