Located in the heart of Kansas City’s downtown, the iconic structure on the National Register of Historic Places typifies the quality and character of the City’s grand hotel era. Vacant for 25 years, the building was in deteriorated condition with many features such as stone clad stairs, coffered plaster ceilings, walls and light fixtures that had either been destroyed or sold. The hotel’s significant history and nostalgia led to the phrase “restoring memories” as the design focus for the renovation.
